Arne Jacobsen serving utensils

Granted this is a bit pricey for a hostess gift, but serving implements like butter or cheese knives are great gift ideas for someone that enjoys hosting. Un like the rest of us, they won’t collect dust in the “wedding gifts we don’t use” cabinet. This serving set is sleek, simple and pairs well with anything.

No pressure book

You don’t want your friend to feel like they have to write you a book report. Rather it’s nice to give something meaningful to you that the person can pick up and put down in short bur sts like short stories, essays or poetry.

Personalized item

Granted this requires planning ahead, but an item that can be personalized like cocktail napkins, coaster or my favorite, a Bully lip gloss, show thoughtful ness and forethought for your host.

Something seasonal

It’s great to give something that memorializes the gathering, like a christmas ornament or flowers in season. (Just try to bring a vase too so as not to take the host’s attention to search for one!)

No alcohol spirit

Round out the hot’s bar with a zero or low alcohol bottle. Those that don’t drink surely appreciate being served something other than water or sugary drinks. I like this one because its bitter, like a Campari sub stitute.
